Children meet creepy crawlies as educational zoo visits Suffolk school
Children at Mendlesham Primary School got the chance to meet a host of creepy crawlies and mini-beasts during a visit from an educational zoo.
Pupils were treated to a visit by Our Animal World Suffolk on Wednesday, May 24.
The excited youngsters got to meet Terri the tarantula, Electra the scorpion and Stitch the praying mantis as well as a host of other fascinating creatures.
They also met two four-month-old puppies Coco and Lottie, who are both training as therapy dogs.
During the session the children learned fascinating facts about all the creatures they met, and got the chance to look at them under a magnifying glass.
Joseph Santy, Head of School, said: “The children really enjoyed seeing these incredible creatures close up.
“They were absolutely enthralled by the variety of insects Laura and Sophie from Our Animal World Suffolk had brought in.
“The children got to see stick insects, a praying mantis, giant snails and even a scorpion – and they loved meeting and cuddling Coco and Lottie.
“This was a great opportunity to develop the children’s love of the natural world.”
